The Youth Clinic is a confidential, free clinic for youth aged 12-24. We provide comprehensive health care services in a safe, welcoming and accessible youth-friendly environment. We have a special commitment to youth who may be at risk for poor health outcomes. The Youth Clinic Team consists of Pam Nicholls, Phoebe Trueit, Marion Selfridge, Doug McGhee, Jennifer Lee, Kristen Korol, Sonya Chandler, Kim Daly and Barbara Thompson.
The Youth Clinic Team provides health care on a part-time basis at two clinic sites. We are located at the James Bay Community Project and downtown in Bastion Square. Our services include assessment and treatment of health problems, provision of medication and contraceptives, counselling, outreach, health teaching and referrals to other community services. Many health challenges that youth face such as addictions, mental health issues, pregnancy and blood-borne illnesses are services that we specialize in.
The Youth Clinic will be operating a 1 year pilot project out of Belmont High School during the 2008/09 school year with funds received from United Way. This Clinic will service youth aged 12-19 at Belmont, Pacific, Dunsmuir and Spencer schools. The hours of operation will be on Wednesdays 12-4pm at Belmont High School. We are looking forward to providing this much needed service to the youth on the Westshore.
