Environmental Stewardship Teams
As part of International Year of Planet Earth (IYPE) Belmont students and staff adopted a green initiative we call "Environmental Stewardship of the Belmont Landscape".
The
school-wide program began in April 2008 during
Earth Week with the distribution of garbage bags, gloves and
nifty nabbers to the head stewards of
each zone.
The volunteer teachers and students then dedicated a few minutes
each week to cleaning up the school grounds.
More and more students are making a concerted effort to deposit their garbage in the bins provided and, although the crows and gulls continue to undermine our efforts from time to time, we seem to be getting the upper-hand on the problem.
The Environmental Stewardship teams hope to take advantage of sunny days to deal with the some of the more neglected areas of our landscape. We hope that members of the community will help us by refraining from leaving their garbage on the property adjacent to the school.
Thanks from the Belmont Environmental Stewardship teams!
NOTE: Please donate your used grocery bags to the red bag in the front office.
